Documented Life and Documented Faith

Documented Life Week 13 challenge: Make a Custom Element, Prompt: Ride the Energy of Your Own Unique Spirit
Documented Faith week 14 "Forgive" Colossians 3:13 "Make allowance for each other's faults and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember the Lord forgave you so you must forgive others."

This week I decided to glue my test runs off my gelli plate that I pulled onto deli paper right into my art journal pages. I did this mainly because I really liked the pulls on the deli paper and with the gelli plate you are never sure of getting the same prints a second time.
I used matte medium to glue the deli paper down and then used a credit card to smooth it all out and remove the bubbles.
I had some washi tape that I thought matched well so I applied them around the edges.
I then selected some of my scraps I had from previous projects and glued them down. I added a little extra color with my yellow gelatos and some marks with a pen.
I tied everything together with a wash of gesso and outlined in various places with my watercolor pencils. I found some leftover stickers and rub ones to add a few more elements. My custom element is my silhouette that was created when I did my gelli print with a stencil. I applied some gesso on the area, dried it with my heat gun and then did a black watercolor wash to the whole image. Some of the lettering from the gelli print shows through which I love and then I applied two rub on words to her neck. The butterfly signifies the fact that when you offer forgiveness to others it releases you to be yourself. Holding on to grudges creates a black cloud within yourself.
I like to incorporate Documented Life and Faith into the same double page layout and so far it has worked out well for me with the prompts.
I have found that it can be hard to forgive others but the rewards for doing so is very liberating. Holding onto to those grudges and then living with that dark cloud creates a dark dismal outlook to life. Once you let go that dark cloud brightens and you can lead the life God wants for you. We are to love one another and that can not be done if you are living in that dark space. In our study we learn that forgiveness is not: minimizing the seriousness of the offense, instant restoration of trust, resuming a relationship without any changes. Reasons to forgive are: because God has forgiven us, because resentment does not work, because we are all going to need more forgiveness in the future, because it is unhealthy.

Documented Faith Romans 8:38,39

I did not have intentions on writing a blog for this entry in my Bible but after I got it done I thought maybe you would all like a little information on how I did it. With that being said I do not have pictures of my progress, sorry.
If you are not familiar with a gelli plate or how to use it there are many informative videos on you tube, be aware it is a addictive process before you know it you will have a table full of papers laying around.( who am I kidding they will be all over the room) I applied some paint to my gelli plate and added some stencils and took the first print off on a piece of deli paper, then the second print was applied to the edge of my Bible page. I did my journaling on my Bible page and added a couple rub ons. Then I edged my verse with a water color pencil. I applied some washi tape on the top and bottom of my Bible page. I taped my deli paper down on a piece of cardstock so I could run it through the printer. I found some subway art of my verse on Paper Craft Memories Word ARt by Karen. Thank you Karen, I just love it. I put some of the same washi tape on the two edges of my deli paper and then I used my very thin red liner tape to add my word art print to my Bible.
I love that this was our verse for our prompt for Documented Faith this week. I remember a long time ago when I first read this verse how it spoke to me and still does each time I re-read it. The love that God has for us is unconditional and that just blows my mind. I certainly am not deserving of it but am very thankful for it. I can only begin to comprehend that kind of love, I feel as a mom somewhat of how it might be but even at that there are times as a parent we get discouraged. I think about all the times I am sure that God has been discouraged with me and it breaks my heart that I let him down. I think each time I read this verse it is an incentive for me to keep trying to grow and become a more mature christian. These online Bible studies with the art incorporated in with the study is surely a positive influence on my time with God. I have spent more time  reading the Bible and  praying over the word then I have in a very long time. I have become more structured and for me that is not an easy thing. I rebel against structure. If you would like to know more about our group you can just click on the link and check us out. Its not to late, ever for you to pick up your Bible and spend time with God in His word. Hope to see you there and I am anxious to see how you interpret God's word into Bible Art.

Documented Life Project: Week 10 March 7, 2015

Our theme for March is "Making Your Mark" Week 1 prompt is "Surviving the Elements" and the Art Challenge is "As a layer element"
I have created this page using several marks that are a usual for me. I started with using my gelli plate to lay some color on my pages. I used craftsmart light green and ceramcoat pale lilac with a harlequin and dot stencil.
I always heat set in between each layer with my heat gun. As I go though all of these layers I am loving each one and had a hard time continuing, usually for me its the other way around. I need to add more layers until I like it.
For my next step I used guava and lemon gelatoes to add a little more color.

Now for some marks as an element.... I used my lyra light orange water color crayon and drew around some of the triangles created by the stencil. Then I used a paint brush and a little water to blend it out.
I love to use my rubber stamps in my projects and this one by renaissance art is one of my favorites. I used lime pastel color box chalk ink pad and stamped on both sides next to the center fold.
I had some labels and deli paper that I had made previously with my gelli plate and the colors were a good fit so I used them. The deli prints are on the outside borders.

I used a brown watercolor pencil for more marks and highlighted my labels, some of the diamonds and a little on the outside edges of both pages.
I used my credit card to apply a little white gesso to tie everything together. This stamp by cc rubber stamps makes a very subtle border but I thought it was just enough for this project. I also used my empty tape roll and color box chalk rouge ink pad to add a few circles.

I had some tape from a long time ago and I don't even remember where I got it from or what company made it but it works here so I added it.
For my final marks I drew these flowers and this cute little bunny. I used watercolor pencils to color them all in. I then added some sketchy marks to the flowers and bunny.

To finish it off I had just found these letters and journaling blocks by American Crafts while I treated myself to a trip to Hobby Lobby today. I put the prompt inside the journaling block. This prompt is saying to me to not be of the world but to focus on what is of God. In surviving the elements of the world and keeping focused I will have what my heart desires and that is to someday walk through that garden with God, to feel his presence and love. A love that is true and holy, unlike anything this sinful world has to offer.

The other side of this project will be used for my Documented Faith prompt which I will receive tomorrow. Until next time, hugs.
