Lenten Devotion - Good Friday

Read: John 13: 36-38

In this chapter, Jesus is with His disciples eating the evening meal and then He washes their feet. In these two verses, He predicts Peter's denial.
In verse 36. Peter is being curious and asks Jesus, "Lord where are you going?" Are we not all curious? When one of our loved ones is going somewhere we may ask "Where are you going?" Sometimes they may answer and sometimes they may not. Occasionally it might not be an answer we like or want to hear. The answers don't always satisfy our curiosity.
Jesus' answer to Peter was "Where I am going, you can not follow now, but you will follow later." I don't think Peter was satisfied with the Lords' answer, because then he asks "Why" and tells Him that he would die for Him.
In verse 38, Jesus answers "Will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. " Peter found this hard to believe. Are we like Peter? During this Lent time, let us reflect on our relationship with Jesus. Are we all talk or do we walk our talk?

Prayer: Father, we ask You to help us to follow the example You set. Amen.
