Lenten Devotion - Tuesday of Holy Week

"God Will Deliver Us"

Read: 2 Corinthians 1: 8-22; Psalm 6

As Paul writes to the Church in Corinth, verse 9 states: "Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead." Verse 10 in part: "On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us."

We all have many trials and tribulations in our lives and we sometimes may feel "How can I go on?" Psalm 6:4 says "My soul is in anquish, how long, O Lord, how long?" We can go on, though, not by our own will but by the promise that God will deliver us just as He delivered Jesus from the cross. By Jesus' death, His resurrection and our faith in Him, God will deliver us from this cruel world. There will be difficult times in our lives but all we need to do to see these times through is to rely on God. Give all your troubles to God, let Him handle them and then move on. God can raise the dead, He certainly can handle our problems if we let Him.

Prayer: Dear God, As we continue on our Lenten journey toward Easter, we pray you will give us strength to face each day. Help us Lord, to turn all our troubles over to you. We praise You, Lord, for all of our blessings and there are many. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
