I'm back again...

this makes three days in a row, we are on a roll.
I thought I would share with you tonight the tree I have in my office at work that I decorated with the snowflakes from the Cricut cartridge "When Its Cold Outside". These snowflakes are beautiful and very intricately designed. I must admit it did take a little figuring out to get them to cut nicely. But it certainly was worth the effort. I will be undecorating my tree either tomorrow or Monday and my sister is going to be the recipient of all these snowflakes. Next year I am sure there will be something else I will want to do to this tree.
Well its off to plan projects for the classes on Saturday, January 9th, 2010. Check back tomorrow hopefully I will have something new to show you. Have a great evening. Bev

Cricut Houses

Hi Everyone,
I thought I would share with you tonight the Cricut houses I made this year for above my mantle downstairs. They are really cute, although I am giving them to Jill, I feel they are too small and they get lost above the mantle. So next year I am planning on making some bigger ones. The possiblities are endless with these houses you can make them to suit any holiday or season. I added some glitter, stamping, flower soft, and for the church windows, to make them look like stained glass, I used alcohol inks on embossing metal. Loved the look that gave me. I didn't get the trees or the snowmen made so this scene is really lacking. I ran out of time, better get busy sooner next year. When I was at a craft show this fall I remember seeing some figurines that someone had made from polymer clay. I am thinking I will look for them next year and purchase a couple to go with my village. Enjoy! Bev

You've heard it before.....

but here we go again. Are you taking bets on how long it will last.

I thought I would share with you all tonight my 2009 Christmas Card
.At the last two conventions I attended in Ohio I had been eyeing the Copic markers.....well needless to say it doesn't take much to convince me I needed them, so last fall I did purchase two sets. This is my first project with them. I just love the way they blend. If you don't know about these markers I can tell you a little. They are alcohol based markers that are refillable and also you can purchase new nibs for them. There are many places on the web that you can get more info about them, I have totally fallen in love with them. They are so easy to use and they truly keep their color. Love em!!! I still love my watercolor markers, but these will do so much more for me. Now I am all into purchasing white, or any neutral color of brads, bling, ribbon, any embellishments and then just color them with the copics. Perfect color coordination every time.
If you haven't heard the news yet, classes are now being held on the second Saturday of every month starting in January. You will have the option of coming that day for 1,2,or 3 classes. The first one will begin at 10:00 am and then the next two will follow directly after the completion of the first. You will need to sign up for each class, sorry I only have room for 8 -10 people. I am planning on having the project available for you to view a week before class on this blog. Remember you can follow this blog by signing up with the link on the right. Hope to see you at class.
always,
Bev

oh boy............

so many false starts!!! I am not making any promises this time, lol.
I had a great day today went and had a thanksgiving lunch with a very special preschooler, Julia, and then watched Gina at her swim meet practice. She is getting to be quite the little fish.
So how are all of you doing on getting some Christmas shopping done? I am seriously going to start mine this week. I do have a little done but a little certainly doesn't add up to even half way there.
Well hopefully catch up with you tomorrow. I am going to a couple local craft shows and a Santa Sale, should be lots of fun.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Father's out there and especially to my very own Dad. Here is the card I made for Father's Day this year. It was also a sketch challenge on Let's Scrap (lsc103). This car is from a set of stamps I bought from Stampin Up when my friend had a party. I stamped it with black ink and then water colored it with my water color pencils. Then I tore the edges of the paper on both the stamped image and one of my layers. The layered paper is from My Mind's Eye. I attached all of my papers and then used the brushed metal letters by Allison Conners of Creative Imaginations to spell out DAD. I choose one screw brad and then to off set that I used two regular brads. I stamped my greeting on a piece of mica with blue staz-on ink and then put some crystal lacquer on the back of the mica to attach it to my card.

Challenge Prize

Here is the picture of the prize for the "Handmade Paper Challenge". As you can see you will receive if your name is drawn, four 12" x 12" papers, two 8 1/2" x 11" papers, four border strips, two journaling circles, fibers, two flowers, and two brads. I hope you are all working on your hand designed papers and getting ready to put your layout together. Remember the deadline is June 30, 2009 at midnight. I also forgot to mention that my layouts are sketch's from "Lets Scrap" (link is to the right). The "Shrub" layout is letsscrap#2 and the "Naked" layout is sketch "nds2".
Wow did we ever get lots of rain this morning and early afternoon. I am so thankful for my sump pump that we had installed in the basement, it was working overtime. But with that much rain coming down something was bound to leak and it did the windows. Nothing was hurt but I had quite a bit of water to get cleaned up. I really need to get that battery back up for the sump pump before we get more rain like that and the electricity goes out to. Then I would be in trouble.
Have a great evening.

Handmade Paper Challenge

We haven't had a challenge in quite awhile and I thought it was time to get one going again. Your challenge is to start with a piece of white paper and design your own scrapbook paper from it. You may use any mediums you like. For mine I used stamps and ink pads. You may make your layout a single or double page, 12 x 12, 8 x8, 8 1/2 x 11 or 6 x6. Rule is no commercial printed scrapbook papers allowed. You may scan your layout or take a picture and then email it to me @ sunflowerhouse@verizon.net I am so excited to see what you all come up with. Can you tell my design started with last weeks class "Plaid Paper"? For the winner I will have a set of handmade papers for you, which I am currently working on. As soon as they are finished I will post of photo of what you are striving to win. The winner will be from a random drawing. Good luck.

Featured Layout

Good Afternoon,

I am so excited, I just joined an online scrapping group a couple of days ago and they have already put up one of my layouts in their Feature Lineup. You may check it out by going to "Lets Scrap" you can find the link to in in my right hand column. If you are looking for inspiration for your scrapping layouts this is the place to go, they are just full of ideas. You may even want to join the group yourself, its easy and lots of fun.

I do have samples for you for next weeks card class and I'm excited the possibilities are endless for your creativity. I am even going to make up a scrapbook page for you to look it, I just love the technique.

You will be learning how to make your own "Plaid" paper for card making or for scrap booking. Hope you make time to join us at class.

I haven't been to horse shows in quite awhile but its time to get back into the swing of it again. Sydni is in 4-H and she had her first show today. She took home a first place in grooming and showmanship. She had to borrow a horse this year and its was the first time she had ever handled this horse so I am very proud of her.

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Now its time for me to go clean up my studio so we have a place to have classes on Monday. Later.......
